Become a Member

The first step in experiencing what HealthSTAT has to offer is to become a member. You’ll receive extra benefits and opportunities, as well as feel a part of a wider student community. Check out our Membership page to learn more.

Student Leadership Opportunities

HealthSTAT is a student-run, non-profit organization. From volunteers to the student Board of Directors, nothing happens in HealthSTAT without student leaders. We have opportunities for you to join existing projects and also to bring new projects and initiatives to HealthSTAT. Note: All leadership positions require that you be a member of HealthSTAT.

Apply for funding and resources to support your own health project idea!

One way in which HealthSTAT develops future leaders is by offering our members access to Leadership Development Grants, which will provide funding, resources, and general coordination and support for students wishing to create sustainable service projects. You can submit project proposals and receive Leadership Development Grants based upon project merit and potential for sustainability. To apply for a Leadership Development Grant, submit your proposal here.

Become a School Liason!

Love HealthSTAT and want to build your school’s involvement? We need people in every program at all our schools to help us get the word out! School Liaisons help organize lunchtime talks on your campus, put up posters and flyers for HealthSTAT events, and circulate emails about our current activities to colleagues at your school. If you area interested in learning more about becoming a School Liaison, let us know.

Join a Committee!

Current Committees:

  • Event planning committees—everything from the monthly coffee hours to annual Leadership Symposium (October) and Political Leadership Institute (January), to fundraising events
  • Advocacy committee—help shape HealthSTAT’s legislative agenda in the fall and then attend advocacy meetings in the Spring during the legislative session
  • Membership committee—work on reaching out to new programs and schools across Georgia
  • Development – Cultivating funds is a high priority for HealthSTAT. Get involved with our Annual Giving Campaign or other fundraising opportunities.

Apply to work on the Board of Directors!

As a 501c3, HealthSTAT is governed by a Board of Directors who are responsible for maintaining the organization’s mission and ensuring legal and fiduciary compliance as well as raising money to support our work. The Board of Directors for HealthSTAT is comprised almost exclusively of current health professional students in Georgia. In addition to quarterly meetings, each board member is responsible for overseeing different organizational components and program areas.

If you are interested in learning more about the Board of Directors, send us an email at info@healthstatgeorgia.org.

Intern at HealthSTAT!

Federal Work Study positions: We are an authorized partner with Emory University’s Financial Aid Office to hire Emory students who have Federal Work Study as part of their financial aid package. Unfortunately, we do not have this authorization with any other schools at this time (if you think your school would be interested, talk to your financial aid office and then have them contact us). We typically hire 2-3 work study students a year to help coordinate office and program activities. We will post these below, on the Emory job search site, as well as send out an announcement through the Rollins School of Public Health Career Services office.

Summer Internships: Sometimes we have funds available to hire students for summer projects. When we do, they will be listed here.

Practicum/Thesis Opportunities: We are always willing to help you with practicum, thesis, or service learning requirements. Occasionally we have projects you can work on, but often, you will need to have an idea and we can house it and help connect and guide you.
